Cortec’s patented migrating corrosion inhibitor (MCI®) technology protects reinforcing metal in concrete from corrosion. Available as admixtures, surface treatments and specialty formats, MCI® products provide protection to embedded reinforcement in both new and existing concrete structures. MCI® products work by forming a protective, monomolecular layer on metallic reinforcement to mitigate corrosion. A unique feature of MCI® is that the inhibitor will migrate a considerable distance through concrete to protect embedded metals. Many of Cortec’s MCI® products are certified by Underwriter’s Laboratories to meet ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for contact with potable drinking water. MCIs have low dosage rates and do not affect the physical properties of concrete.
